Sitemaps & IndexNow

Tell the engines the moment a page changes

You published the fix an hour ago and the engines will find it when they find it, unless you tell them. News and video sitemaps sit beside WordPress's own, and IndexNow lets you push a changed page to the participating search engines the moment it changes, by posting to the IndexNow endpoint directly. That request goes to a host other than AEOSearch, so it stays off, and silent, until you switch it on yourself.

Sitemaps & IndexNow

Three switches before anything leaves

The module has to be on, you have to give outbound consent plus a one-time acknowledgment, and a generated key file has to be served. All three, or nothing submits.

What actually goes out

Your hostname, the generated key, the address of the key file, and the URLs you're submitting. No page content, no titles, no visitor data, no account details.

Auto-submit is a fourth switch

With it on, publishing or updating a public post as a signed-in author, with content that actually changed, submits that one URL. Autosaves, revisions, cron jobs and imports submit nothing.

Questions

Is IndexNow on by default?

No. The module, the consent and a served key file all have to be turned on separately.

Which search engines does IndexNow reach?

The participating engines: Microsoft Bing, Yandex, Seznam.cz, Naver, Yep and Amazon.
