The Writing Check

Grade the page in front of you, instantly, on your server

You want to know whether the page you're writing will read well to a search engine and to ChatGPT before you hit publish, not a week after. The writing check runs every one of its checks against the text in front of you, right there in the editor, without sending a word anywhere and before you've connected to anything. Three meters sit above the rows (Search, Readability and Answer), and each is the share of points you earned across the checks that had something to measure.

A meter that admits what it skipped

A check with too little text to judge isn't scored pass or fail; it's listed under "Nothing to measure yet" and left out of the average, and a meter built from part of its group says so wherever you see it. You're never graded on a test the page never sat.

The rows are the reading

Under every meter sit the rows that built it, and they tell you what was found: a heading that skips a level, an image with no alt text, a section that wanders before it answers. Fix the row and the meter follows.

Your server, not a search index

It runs on your server, not on a search index, so it can't see search volume or keyword difficulty, and it shows neither rather than a guess.

Questions

Does the writing check send my draft anywhere?

No. Every check runs on your own server against the text in front of you.

Why does a meter sometimes disappear?

When a whole group has nothing to measure, we hide the meter rather than show you one that's wrong.
